What Surprises Await at This Year's
Retro Motor Show?
This event transports visitors back in time. From 20 to 22 September 2024, the 8th edition of the Retro Motor Show, Poland's largest event dedicated to classic vehicles, will take place at the Poznań International Fairgrounds. Every year, the show attracts thousands of fans, collectors, and experts from the vintage car world, offering a unique opportunity to witness true automotive gems up close.
Record-Breaking Star
Last year’s highlight at Retro Motor Show was the iconic Ferrari F40, but this year, the organisers have raised the bar even higher! In Pavilion 5, within the #klasykiempomieście zone and the WTC - Watch This Car area, a Lamborghini Diablo from 1990 will be showcased – a car that dethroned the Ferrari F40, breaking its speed records. This true 90s icon, known for its stunning performance and aggressive design, is certain to captivate car enthusiasts at the event.
Anniversary and Premiere
Among this year's attractions, visitors can expect unique displays and shows. 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Porsche 911 Turbo, a model that has remained a dream for many car enthusiasts over the decades. Porsche Club Poland will present an impressive collection of racing models, including the legendary Porsche 911 generation 964 Cup, which achieved great success in the 90s. Special attention will also be drawn to the premiere of the Porsche 924 Safari, prepared for next year’s Dakar Classic Rally.
Unique Models
There will be many more exceptional and rare vehicles on display. At the Classic Mercedes Club Poland stand, a real gem awaits – a Mercedes Benz from 1914, in its original condition, fully operational and ready to drive! Next to it, visitors will see nine restored pre-war convertibles, ranging from the W21 model to the majestic W142.
The Classic Car Market specialises in trading vintage vehicles, but not all models are for sale. They will present two real rarities: the Iso Rivolta S4 and the Salmson S4C Faux-Cabriolet from 1933. The Iso Rivolta S4 is one of only 46 units ever produced, featuring a Corvette engine with over 300 horsepower. This Milanese car, once owned by fashion designer Mila Schön, is preserved in its original condition, complete with elegant velvet interiors and a history rooted in the world of Italian fashion. Next to it, the Salmson S4C from 1933, also in near-original condition, will be on display. This car has had only two owners in over 60 years, making it unique among other models from that era.
At the Nażółtej.pl stand, visitors should look out for a quirky creation – a Ural M63 motorcycle from 1966 with a bathtub! This extraordinary bike, which earned praise at the Kogut Rally, is sure to draw attention from every visitor.
Classics for Sale
Trading in classic vehicles is an integral part of the Retro Motor Show, attracting fans of vintage cars from across Poland. Visitors will have the chance to see and purchase rare cars at the stands of companies such as Giełda Klasyków, ABCar Oldtimers, Goźlińscy Brothers, Novanta Classics, Fabryka Klasyków, Sportivo Silesia, as well as from individual exhibitors. It’s an excellent opportunity to become the owner of a true automotive treasure while also learning about the classic car market and making connections within the industry.
Brand Anniversaries
The magazine Automobilista will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Mazda MX-5 by displaying a classic model alongside its latest 2024 version. Meanwhile, the Citroen Oldtimer Club Poland will mark the anniversaries of two iconic models – 90 years since the debut of the Traction Avant and 50 years since the presentation of the Citroen CX. They will showcase a full range of these classic models, taking visitors back to the 1930s and 70s. And that’s not the only place to see Citroens, as several other clubs associated with the brand will also be present.
A Page from History
The Automobilklub Wielkopolski will feature a special exhibition titled "A Page from the Calendar". Visitors will travel through 10 themed zones, each highlighting key moments in automotive history. The exhibition will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the MG brand, showcasing models such as the MG TA from 1937 and the rare MG WA Tickford from 1939, alongside NSU vehicles, American muscle cars, legendary Italian Alfa Romeos, Sokół motorcycles, and pre-war Mercedes models. The exhibition will also feature meetings with figures linked to the history of the Automobilklub and the Poznań racetrack.
Heavy Equipment with a Retro Twist
In Pavilion 4, visitors will find military displays, Złombol rally participants, American trucks, and STAR models. For bus enthusiasts, MPK Poznań will bring two restored vehicles – the DAF MB200 and the Neoplan N4020, the first low-floor city bus in Poland.
The Military Property Agency, a partner of Retro Motor Show, invites guests to a military village organised in collaboration with army units and museums. Attractions will include decommissioned military items such as uniforms, berets, and jerry cans, along with unique military vehicles. The display will feature an American Dodge WC-52, a Soviet GAZ-69, and a BM-13 "Katyusha" rocket launcher. The Land Forces Training Centre will present a rare Mercedes COBRA, while the Armour Museum will showcase a Zil 111D and a Cadillac. The Pila Military Museum will exhibit a unique go-kart, and the 31st Tactical Air Base will capture attention with a Mig 19 engine and a replica of an Albatross from a film production.
Restoration Academy
The Restoration Academy zone is a real treat for DIY enthusiasts and mechanics. A range of specialised exhibitors will cover every aspect of vintage vehicle restoration, detailing, and repair. This area will show classic car fans how to restore their vehicles to their former glory. Numerous workshops and interactive activities will complement the experience. At the Anest Iwata stand, visitors can try airbrush painting, and during the "Paint a T-shirt" workshop, they can create their own unique shirt.
Music, Costumes, and Stage
Among this year’s exhibitors will also be the WENA Motor Museum from Oława, which plans to bring a Lamborghini tractor, among other things. Also confirmed is the participation of Mustang Klub Polska, the National Museum of Agriculture and Agri-Food Industry in Szreniawa, the Syrena and Warszawa Enthusiasts Club, and Moto Korona Wałcz.
Retro Motor Show will captivate visitors not only with fascinating vehicles but also with its unique musical atmosphere. On stage in Pavilion 3A, the Retro Hobby Band will energise the crowd with lively tunes, while in Pavilion 5, the Dixie Company will create an unforgettable jazz vibe at the Od-Jazz-Dowe Auta stand. Additionally, the Retro Wardrobe invites visitors to try on vintage costumes and capture the moment with commemorative photos. Music and style from the past will fill the event with an unforgettable atmosphere.
First-Ever Outdoor Exhibition
This year’s Retro Motor Show will occupy five pavilions: 3, 3A, 4, 5, and 5A. But that’s not all – for the first time, exhibitors will also appear in Plac Marka, the central square of the Poznań International Fairgrounds. Exploring the entire exhibition may take several hours.
Entrance to the fairgrounds will be possible from the east via Głogowska Street (opposite Dworcowy Bridge) and from the north at Bukowska Street 12.
